Move to Google Groups?

I use openscad for 3D printing, and so periodically I need to search for
info on how best to do something. I found the forum is out of date so:

Could one just move the forum to Google Groups?

That should provide free hosting etc for a reasonably long time  - although
I do wonder what a long time means now that Usenet has become inaccessible
to most of us ...

Could one just move the forum to Google Groups?

Please don't.

First, I take great pains to avoid anything related to Google.

Second, there have been a lot of "couldn't we migrate to ...?"
questions, and I am glad that we do not have to change where we are
looking at every other week.

Best regards,
Willem.

Anything Google offers for free they tend to take away again. Look at
Google+, Picasa, Google Reader, which I used to use and more recently
Backup and Sync, which I relied upon.

Is there actually a non-mailing list user forum that is active? If so, I
apologise as I have missed it.
Personally, I prefer to find my technical discussion in a forum ... email
is for stuff that needs immediate attention.

The 2 bigger ones I know about are Reddit and the Thingiverse
Group.

Both linked in https://openscad.org/community.html#other

If you find any other open group, please let me know and I can
add that to the list.

ciao,
Torsten.

There's also at least two Facebook groups:

https://www.facebook.com/openscad/
https://www.facebook.com/Openscad-384422471727891

But I believe that all of the others combined are less active than this
mailing list.

Doesn't gmail have multiple folders and filtering rules?  Have it sort
your OpenSCAD mail into its own folder, and then only look at that
folder at an appropriate time.

Please don’t move this mailing list to either Google or Facebook. Sometimes, it’s just best to leave good enough alone and use reliable tech like this.
