preview and making surface view sustainable

Hi Folks,

I used to just hit F5 and automatically see the surfaces of my objects.

Now,  i can not see anything in F5 (unless, every time I hit F5, I go into
view and click on "show surfaces".  Then I see my object with its
surfaces.).

If i hit F6, the correct rendition appears without having to select
surfaces.

I would like F5 to always show surfaces unless I specified something
different.  At one time this was the case, but not anymore. I must have
changed the state of some setting.

I know the word "sustain" is wrong...it is some other word but i am 70 and
my mind does not always recall the words I know.

F5 should always switch to surfaces.
Which version of OpenSCAD are you using, on which OS, and how did you install it?

Thank you for responding.

I am using openSCAD ve 2015.03-1

I am using Windows 10

I installed it originally from openSCAD download....but since then
downloaded ANOTHER person's modifications (such as auto complete). That
person's instructions were to change the download name to openSCAD.xml
which replaced the one that was there ( I assume).

However, even with the above changes....F5 rendering with surfaces did work
up to yesterday when I must have changed some flag state in advertently.

I am absolutely new to openSCAD and feel very clumsy at the moment.  Love
the programming, however.
