Using QCAD or Inkspace to get details into OpenSCAD?

Thanks, understood. I'll make that suggested change if I use minkowski again in this exercise. -------------------- For those who, like nophead, have difficulty viewing the large images I post (I usually don't reduce their size, so as to retain detail), below are links to those I've posted so far. Is there a general preference here please? When an image seems necessary I can include it as either (or both). https://www.dropbox.com/s/7iqahy361kskmza/FourScreenshots.jpg?raw=1 <https://www.dropbox.com/s/7iqahy361kskmza/FourScreenshots.jpg?raw=1> https://www.dropbox.com/s/ebm187cmynsj9jp/01-ImageOpened.jpg?raw=1 <https://www.dropbox.com/s/ebm187cmynsj9jp/01-ImageOpened.jpg?raw=1> https://www.dropbox.com/s/mymmn4jme3k22k2/Brightness550.jpg?raw=1 <https://www.dropbox.com/s/mymmn4jme3k22k2/Brightness550.jpg?raw=1> https://www.dropbox.com/s/mznxvvsqyx1bmcf/InOpenSCAD.jpg?raw=1 <https://www.dropbox.com/s/mznxvvsqyx1bmcf/InOpenSCAD.jpg?raw=1> https://www.dropbox.com/s/mleho1pwvmpu2r1/OffsetTest.jpg?raw=1 <https://www.dropbox.com/s/mleho1pwvmpu2r1/OffsetTest.jpg?raw=1> -- Sent from: http://forum.openscad.org/

/"Is the idea that you make a plug cover (whatever that may be? I've only
seen one photo)"/

Did you view the four screenshots I made for you in my post this morning,
including the small mains plug cover? Here's another version of that:

Thanks for the measurement suggestions by you and others.

The important thing, is the angles. If it is only one or two such
covers, then it can be made bigger, and trimmed to size. That is what I
would do. And then most likely, tart it up afterwards. You've got a
profile of the angles, make it by union of squares and linear extrude,
or cubes a few mm high. Print the bent strips, see if the angles fit -
you can adjust the 'length' (the x direction in your measured photo).
Then extrude it the width needed (y direction in your photo ). You can
use the ruler to measure the various flat sizes, if you want (and never
underestimate CAD - cardboard aided design). If you want an exact fit,
then print it, see how much to  difference with cube to chop off edges
in openscad, or leave it wider and physically trim it off. For the notch
at the bottom difference a cylinder and cube, the tube thing at the top,
which is probably flexible, either a separate  print in tpu, or add a
cylinder and difference a smaller one. If it fits, more or less, then
tune it in, if you think it's worthwhile, a few rounded edges/whatever.
It needn't be complicated, but it can be, if you want it to be so.

Only just seen them, and replied b4 i saw this missive. I'm on the
mailing list, I never look at the forum. It seems that the tube thing is
for a screw, I thought it may be some sort of cable strain relief, it
looks like a separate piece - not sure why that would be.

btw. on the mailing list, the quotes get screwed  - you never said what
appears in italics, so I don't know who you are referring to in your
question, but I guess 'twer me.

mondo: Your memory must be even worse than mine then if you have to guess -
it was only a couple of hours between those posts! ;-)

BTW, here in the forum the posts always include a link like this at their

Many or most e-mail clients use mostly-hidden message headers to track
reply chains, so that they can display messages in "threads".

Ray, I see that you're using Thunderbird.  Try View / Sort By /
Threaded.  You should get a display sort of like:
