Agreed, as said before, both features would be very welcome.
The mesh introspection even has a PR that is not ready but
does already work showing what would be possible.

This is a bit vague, I'm going to interpret that as better
2D support discussed in this feature request:
https://github.com/openscad/openscad/issues/3632

I suppose that's not covering everything for technical
drawings, but it might be a start.

As with all requests, this needs someone to spend the time
on it.

With GSoC approaching, I'll try to list those topics in our
project ideas. If anyone knows a student (or otherwise
eligible person - rules have been relaxed to not require
being enlisted at some university), feel free to point them
to GSoC. As we don't have many mentors, it's likely that
we again will be only able to handle a single project. I'd
love to see 2 projects being worked on, but that will need
at least 4 people committing to mentor.
