Copying syntax option to editor?

The pop-up syntax help is a welcome tool for novices like me. But having
displayed it after typing the opening bracket, is there a setting I
haven't yet discovered that will let me select an option and have it
copied directly into my code?

No, it is just a visual reminder.
It is a feature of the underlying library, so not easy to add functionality.

You can select the item in the drop down list and then use ctrl-enter to
insert it into the code. Not at all obvious.

I don't think that works for call-tips.

That would be exactly what I'd like - but, like Michael, I can't get
that to work here. I type say 'cube(' and the pop-up appears. But as
soon as I select with the arrow key or mouse it disappears. And then
using Ctrl + Enter has no effect.
