Is there a separate mailinglist for asking beginner questions about
pythonscad? Like:
a nice templatewith some best practices for starting
is it possibe to reuse my home made openscad library with some modules
and functions in pythonscad or do I have to rewrite those in pythonscad
I'm a bit lost. :(
Met vriendelijke groet,
Matthieu Hendriks
Hi Matthieu,
Pythonscad is being actively developed, mainly by Guenther. There will
be a mailing list, (probably google groups, since it is relatively easy
to set up and administer.) but at the moment, there is a Reddit group,
not sure about where else.
On Pythonscad.org, There are some examples, and they are being changed, too.
Best practices? Whatever is best for Python, I'd guess.
You can jump between pythonscad and openscad, more or less freely. There
is an example of an early way of doing so at
https://pythonscad.org/tutorial/site/python_together/ but other methods
are being developed, afaik
hth
If you install it, make sure to use the correct version of Python, and
set the paths, etc.
Best wishes,
Ray

That sounds like the goal is more separation instead of cooperation.
At some point I might give up trying... I'm still convinced that would
be a very bad thing overall.
ciao,
Torsten.

I would view it as trying to accommodate the folks who don't want to have Python in their functional OpenSCAD mailing list discussion.
My suggestion has always been that all aspects of 3D scripting using using OpenSCAD should be on-topic here, and folks should put [Python] or something similar in the Subject: line and folks who are not interested can either filter or be ready with the delete key.
<insert old story about father, brothers, and the bundle rods known as a fasces>
For now, I'd like to view the new Google Group as a place for folks to work out Python-specific difficulties in OpenPythonSCAD which would be objectionable to the list --- more general things should still come here until there is some official policy change, okay?
