I'm finally getting some minor success with OpenSCAD->SVG->laser cutter.
It would be nice if I could hit F7, and have it export to SVG instead of
using the drop-down menu each time...
Is there an easy way to do this?

Hi David,
I normally use OpenSCAD when designing for laser cutting. I have my windows set up so there are Render, STL, and SVG buttons visible at all times. Always have to render first, but then it's one click after that whether I'm 3D printing or laser cutting.

<face-palm...> Sigh... I never noticed that icon/button before. Silly me.
You solved it in one, and it just worked (tm). Thank you!
BTW, with the 3D-print button, if I can get the rest of the workflow going
and talking to OctoPrint (et al., I might try to hack the 3D-print
functionality to either take the 2D SVG or DXFs...
