Instead of painting, you can lightly melt the whitish parts with a heat
gun. I grant that this is also probably not an optimal solution.

Yes, tried that on a surplus print and looks awful. The black PLA becomes
whitish. No way I'm going to into painting!

Did you work out why the video didn't work?

I expect you'll have seen the identification of the cause of this unwanted
movement. But I haven't yet been able to stop it.

If it is merely a case that you want to use it for your cooker knob?
then if a one off, being a pragmatist, I'd round the corners with a bit
of sandpaper ?.

Best wishes,

Hi Ray,

Thanks. Just tried that. But as soon as I try clicking that I get same
behaviour.

Puzzled why you couldn't see my video? It plays OK here with a double

click, or

Right Click > Launch.

Do you have FreeCAD? If so could you try it please, with either the CSG

or SCAD?

Hi Terry,

save the file as 'cube.scad', or whatever, as a normal openscad file.

In

freecad open that file.  I couldn't see your video, so no idea what

that

was about.

There is an openscad workbench in freecad, which you may or may not

want

to use use.

Best wishes,

Ray

Researching 'add fillets in OpenSCAD' one post reported that FreeCAD

can do so

much more easily. I want to test that, before attempting to use it on

the

replacement control knob I posted about earlier.

I downloaded and installed FreeCAD. I exported a cube from OpenSCAD

as a CSG and

imported it into FreeCAD. But as a complete FreeCAD beginner I was

lost at the

first hurdle because the model then started zooming in, and nothing I

did would

stop it. I'm discussing in the FreeCAD forum, but so far no solution.

Has anyone here successfully done this please? Does OpenSCAD export

reliably?

FWIW here are the screenshots and video I posted to the FreeCAD forum:
