Thx a lot for all your good work Paul!

I can't figure out how to download the SVG file's.
SCAD automatically starts downloading but the SVG files are 'only'
representing.
How to download them as well?

Thx in advantage!
Harry

on the gallery page: https://openscad.org/gallery.html

May be not the right place to ask.

In 2021  Ulrich Bär made an very nice Advents calender.
I really liked that very much.

There were OpenSCAD Advent calendars from 2020 to 2023.
Google 'openscad advent' (without the quotes) to find them all.

Was that an idea for 'just then'?

Anyone heard from this 'project' after that?

Thx

I don't know if that's the same with all browsers, I'm using Firefox,
there it just shows the SVG after clicking on it (that's what happens
for you, if I understand correctly?) then I can just press CTRL-S or
use the File->Save as menu.

ciao,
Torsten.

I'm only asking for silence if it's those kinds of comments

One last thought.

Clearly, my first reaction was too emotional.  After pondering a bit, I
came up with a better understanding of why I dislike the UI (other than
the fact that it was so obscure that I could not understand it at all
upon first encountering it).

I am presented with a grid of pretty doors.  My thought is "what is
behind each door?", so I click on a door.  The door opens! Wonderful!  I
then see what is "inside".  I am even more interested, so I click on the
object, to further explore it. Rather than taking me closer to the
object, the object becomes hidden, the exact opposite of what I wanted
to do.  If I had wanted to hide the object, I would have clicked ANY
WHERE ELSE on the screen.  Clicking on the object clearly should mean "I
am interested in the object".

A better UI would be 1) click on a door opens the door, 2) click on an
open door opens the object, 3) click anywhere other than an open door
closes all doors.  Simple and clear and obvious.

I will not write again about this unless asked to.

Torsten:

I completely agree.  What I said and how I said it was ... "horrible".
My response was rude and not helpful.

I hope that my previous response is easier to understand and more
constructive.

I disagree with 3, that seems strange and surprising and
very annoying if you wanted to click through many of the
doors and one mis-click just closes everything and you
have to start over from the beginning.

I will not write again about this unless asked to.

Well, it's probably too late for this year, but with some
luck and hopefully enough people ready to share a total
of 24 designs we will have another calendar next year.

If nobody can help with getting improvements in, the UI
will likely be the same again.

For completeness, the web part can be found on github at
https://github.com/openscad/openscad.github.com/tree/master/advent-calendar-2023
where it's pretty much just the index.html having all
the relevant stuff. So if anyone has a quick win, we can
push that out any time.

ciao,
Torsten.

Ah.  You have an implicit requirement that more than one door can be
open at once.

That is how any other advent calendar works. I would simply remove the
close option.
