The issue I've been having is another wrinkle to this problem. I usually have several OpenSCAD documents open at once, and frequently open one briefly to reference it in the middle of long-term work on another. When I try to export an STL, OpenSCAD always defaults to the folder of the last .scad file I opened, which is rarely the folder of the current document. I usually want the STLs in the same folder as the .scad, and would like it to default to the location of the CURRENT document, not the last-opened document as it does now. In any case, the desired location of the STL file will be based on the location of the current file, and not some default for all STL files.

I organize my files so that all of my SCAD files are in one folder while

have OpenSCAD remember the most recent output directory, and offer that
as the starting place for STL saves, or to tell OpenSCAD what my
preferred initial input and output directories are?
Thanks!
