Is there a way on the mailing list to block a particular topic ??
Many forums have the ability to stop certain topics being forwarded ..
is this possible with the OpenScad one ??

Not as a user based setting.
Mailman 2 had a topic type thing, it seems to have gone in Mailman 3.
You always have email client rules, I direct a lot of traffic I don't want to see elsewhere.

Some might say that this is a weakness of mailing lists.
I'd say that it's a strength. You can set up whatever rules you find
useful; you aren't limited to what this particular forum supports. Of
course you have to have a mail client with reasonable capabilities, but
most have at least some - probably at least as much as the typical forum.
If I decide that I want to pay special attention to everything that
Michael says, I can set up a rule to highlight his messages. If I'm
just not interested in anything about Python, I can set up a rule
discarding all messages with "Python" in the subject.
And, because it's all in the client, I have these capabilities
identically for all mailing lists I participate in. I don't have to
keep track of how each individual one operates.
