Sorry, that is too broad and unlikely to ever happen. Parts
of what's discussed, like BOM support, may have a good chance
via a dedicated ticket, but a general "just give me unlimited
file I/O" is not fitting into OpenSCAD at this point.

Not asking for input --- just a access to writing out to the log (as one can already do) w/o the clutter of "ECHO: " and w/ the ability to limit it to only what the user directs, and with the ability of the user to set the extension via a preference.
