Hi, all
I have a bunch of objects I want to make, they will need to have dovetails to attach various modules together to form the whole object (the various swap-in / swap-out modules would be printed at varying times, probably.) I've been thinking on designing the module code, I am not sure at all which dovetail code to use, the critical thing will be that the dovetails are all the same distance from the "top" of the modules (so the top is smooth and level, so to speak, instead of having vertical jumps from module to module.)
I don't really understand some parts of OpenSCAD programming yet; I have coded for ages, since CP/M and mainframe days, mostly embedded stuff, ASM and C / C++ mostly (plus other languages ofc) - So far I can make what I want for the modules, but the dovetail code doesn't make sense yet. Partly because I'm not sure which one to focus in on, that'd help.
They're basically carriers for various things (My life needs organizing, BADLY LOL) and if I upgrade a dial caliper or add in another tool to the set of tools by the 3d printer, i'm trying to only have to swap out the changed tool or add the now needed tool to the set, instead of having to print the whole assemblage over again. Saves filament and just plain makes sense.
Thanks all -
Mark
It's not clear what you're after, but look at some of the code here.

I don't know how to make it much clearer, I think I'll just try asking the SW dev on one of those modules.
