hey,

i'm a relatively new openscad user and also not great at computers in
general, so apologies in advance if this is a dumb question.

i've installed openscad on computers before with no issue, but on my new
computer, i cannot get it to run. the project loader will open (not sure if
this is the correct term; the thing that has the "new" "open" and "help"
options), but as soon as i click "new" or "open" this window goes away and
openscad doesn't start. i'll open the task manager and wait several minutes,
but the program just never appears to run.

things i have tried:
-uninstalling and reinstalling a bunch of times
-uninstalling, restarting the computer and reinstalling
-installing both .exe and .zip
-uninstalling, running the disk cleanup app, restarting the computer and
reinstalling
-waiting several days and trying again

does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? i don't know enough
about os things to know what else to try. thanks in advance for any help

(i'm running win 10 pro 64 bit os on a desktop. )

The welcome screen is actually OpenSCAD running, not a separate program. If
you look in the task manager it should be there at that point. If it
disappears when you try to open something it must be crashing. Not sure how
you would find out why as I don't use Windows 10.

You will have to find a nice geek to help, they will need to check
EventViewer for details, but even then it is likely to be a problem with
that PC configuration as OpenSCAD runs on many Windows 10 systems without
issue.

It is likely to be graphics related, get them to upgrade the graphic driver.

They could also run openscad.com --info from a Command prompt and post that
info here.

Are you using the 2019.05 version?

Is that with multiple monitors? There were some reports of similar
issues with that setup.

ciao,
Torsten.
