Greetings tp all who have 3d printers;
This msg is targeted to those eho already have experience with PCTG,
which has recently been promoted as better than PETG.
If you've used it, what is the typical nozzle and bed temps needed?
How does it compare in room temp strength to PETG? Or PC which needs
temps beyond 290C and 110C beds?
Back a little closer to on topic, I had to change the faucet on my
bathroom vanity recently so I went to the local hdwe store for some
tools. Did NOT find anything that looked usable.
Didn't find any that looked like they could actually do the job either
So hare is a .scad file to print 3 wrenches I found made a 4 hr job 30
years ago, into a 45 minute job a couple months ago.
One fits over the teeny little oval handle of the shutoff valves under
the sink. The cross holes are for a screwdriver for extra leverage.
1 for the hose nuts where the semi-modern hoses have rubber compression
noses so they are leak-proof at reasonable torque. Slip it over the hose
& use pump pliers to drive it.
And one for the plastic nut with 4 ears that mounts the faucet in the
sink basins holes. Print in PETG, standing up. .scad file so you who
live in metric land can adjust.

The AF PCTG P1P.json shows:

Price isn't too bad: $30 for a 1kg spool direct from American Filament.
I didn't see any reference to drying but the technical data shows:
Physical Properties
Specific DensityASTM D792g/cm31.27
Water AbsorptionASTM D 570%0.15
Humidity absorptionISO 62/method 4%0.17
The temps in that doc show that 260 / 85 are smack dab in the middle of
the range listed so I read that as "your mileage may vary".

I have 2 3kg spools coming tom. This seems to be a slightly lower
temp than another reference I have for PC, aka polycarbonate. We will
see, as I'll make another set of housing blocks for my vice screw.
Probably tomorrow if AZ delivers on time. Apparently something has
been added to lower it's plastic temp about 20C That still doesn't put
it in beginner printer temps but I now have 2 that can run at 295C and
120c beds.
What I need next is a good theoretical discussion about pressure advance
and its associated smoothing time. The default settings are leaving a
pronounced overflow at turn time for 90 degree corners.

What I've found in a 50% humidity house, was that PETG out of the dryer
has a good working life of under a week, so I feed it directly from a
55C dryer.

I've already tested this sv08 MAX with PC, mad a 6 pack of a fan duct
stolen from the bottom of Prusa's early MK3S, looks great. This PCGT s/b
similar, but I''ll yell if not.
