I've used a new email, so hopefully this breaks the link and makes a new thread (one of the bugs I
mentioned - bad threading).

Hi Harm (& Everyone),

What you got from octopi is the type of thing you get from a Forum.

So when, eventually we regain Forum like functionality, you may

get something like it. But ATM we have a Mailing-list.

discuss@lists.openscad.org

It seems that the Nabble hosted Forum will not get resurrected.

It is questionable whether it will live much longer as an (old) archive.

I have a backup, and the current Mailing-list had a large chunk of history.

Re https://lists.openscad.org/empathy/list/discuss.lists.openscad.org

That is called Empathy.

I have mentioned it and provided links to it in other emails.

It is provided by the Mailing-list hosting company.

It is a front-end to the mailman3 Mailing-list.

It was developed by them (him), is new and has bugs.

He passed away, so those bugs won't get fixed soon.

It provides a web based view of the Mailing-list archive.

The display of email contents is flawed in many ways, but the info is there.

(the actual email with full headers and MIME info is stored and not flawed)

Do I need seperated registration

If you just want to read or search*, no registration is required.

(* the search field doesn't stand out, it's top right, left of 'Hi')

It can also be used to manage your Mailing-list settings yourself.

As there are few options, I'm happy to do changes for people,

you do not need to register for that, unless you want to fiddle.

It can also be used to post to the Mailing-list, but I mentioned bugs.

I do not recommend using it to post.

If you wish to, you can.

Don't try fancy formatting like quoting, keep things plain text.

It "formats" (corrupts) code snippets.

But don't mention or complain of any bugs or problems you have. I can't help.

I'll say this LOUDLY, it is not a Forum replacement.

If you REALLY want to, you can register your email address & add a password, here:

https://lists.openscad.org/register

(that & the bit doing settings is actually called Affinity, technically different to Empathy)

We are looking for Forum replacements, but don't hold your breath.

While it may be painful for ex-Forum users, it is probably best to just email.

Another question :

Do I need seperated registration for :

I'm surprised now the this email address is not known there.

I'm not a expert in these (deeper) things but what I should like to

have is something like in octopi forum.

I got this every week.

I do NOT want that weekly period of course with our openSCAD dicussion,

but just an mail with an link to the discussion  should be very nice.

And can be reminder when more comments are added.

So I always have to go back to discuss@lists.openscad.org and that's

fine for me.

Regards,

HJ_SK
